Managing a socio-economic system means, in essence, to realize, foresee, decide, organize, command, coordinate and control in such a way that the functions of the system as a whole achieve optimally the goals and objectives of this system. (H. Fayol, Administration industrielle et generale, Dunod, Paris).
Management is an English term of French origin. The French author Jean Chevalier, in his work "Organization" claims that the term "management" is derived from the French word "menage" which means "l'ordre et le train d'une maison" (the organization and management of a house). In the current context, managerial activity is identified with the acceptance of the concept of management as a process. Management as a process has a more comprehensive definition, but according to Peter Durker it would sound like this: "Management directs the systems in the context of a dynamic environment, following an efficient and correct functioning from a social-legal point of view".
